Oral Health
Our goals are to help our patients learn about their oral health and to develop a plan to keep their teeth and gums healthy throughout their life.
Healthy, beautiful smiles for a lifetime
Whether you have been a patient at Elm Hill Dentistry for years or have just joined our team, we will continue to implement an oral health care plan that will keep your teeth strong and your gums healthy. We work along with you as a team, to ensure that you and your family maintain the best oral health possible. Preventive general dentistry is the best way to maintain healthy teeth and gums and to identify small problems before they become serious.
We believe that oral health and the doctor-patient relationship does not stop when you walk out of our office door. Regular check-ups ensure that we are able to detect small changes, growths, swelling, broken teeth and any abnormalities. After your dental exam, we can take further steps to help with diagnosis if needed (x-rays, study models, intraoral photographs). We promote a daily home-care routine that best suits your individual needs. It’s a continuous process, wherein Dr. Iacovino and his team make recommendations on the best brushing and flossing techniques, and sometimes the implementation of additional tools, such as the use of fluoride at home.
Safety & Comfort
We can administer nitrous oxide to enhance patient comfort and relieve anxiety for patients of all ages. After you are comfortably seated in the dental chair, you will inhale the gas (a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen) through a face mask.
We will control the amount of nitrous oxide you receive to ensure your safety. You will begin to relax and will not recognize pain, so the dentist can perform your dental work while you stay completely comfortable.
Additional Information
Typically a general cleaning will last around 60 minutes while one of our qualified hygienists gently cleans the surfaces of your teeth. The process rids your teeth of any built up tartar, plaque, and stains by using an ultrasonic water scaler and various manual scalers. The hygienist will then carefully examine your mouth for any existing or potential problems such as decay or periodontal disease.
